From Kurdistan in Northern Iraq, Sister Haero and her family moved to the United States when she was only 11-months old. Growing up in Southern California, Haero's leadership abilities came to the forefront when she was a student at San Diego State University. She became very active in the SDSU Muslim Student Union, Muslim Women of San Diego, as well as other non-profit organizations.
